Early days, early nights

Yep, just like the title says, my shiny new job at home depot starts at 4am. Yes you read that right: 4am. However, the awesome thing? I get off at either 9am or 1pm. Awesome no? Gives me plenty of time for games and cleaning, laundry, ect. It's really different now; I have to go to bed at around 8pm

That's right, my schedule for sleep resembles a childs'. In other news, I got myself a car! I'm sure you've seen some of the pictures on FB. But for those who haven't, it's a 1996 Chev Corscia, and light blue, almost sky blue, and it's in really good mechanical condition; which is a plus.

I have insurance on said car, but it needs an oil change and I need to craft an emergency kit for it, in case the worst happens. I'm actually on my way to my insurance place to talk over some stuff.

Oh! On Friday we had a winter blast of cold air and snow. It came down everywhere! It makes me happy when I see snow falling, it glitters like diamonds. However, I do not like to shovel it. Please remind me that if I stay here in the Great North not to get a corner house...

Job found

Yep, it took me long enough but I've got a job with home depot. That's a job that can take me places of I let it. Now I gotta look for a car and then a place, a girlfriend, bit that's getting a little ahead of myself. But my first order of business is getting a car. I'll keep you all in the loop when I have snippets of time.

Plans

I will just get this out of my system for a moment, sorry for the rant but it's important to me.

Those who know me know I don't like to make plans because more times than not they will go to S***. I mean, when plans are made in advance, something will come along and mess them up. Which is why I don't make plans through my day.

Ok, I'm off my soap box now. I said I would put some kind of video up on YouTube but it's not syncing correctly, so it's not up yet. I could have something tonight, since I don't have any plans haha.

So until next time guys, I'll start updating my blog a bit more from now on.

It's cold...

Yep, even though the sunshine is here. I'm still looking for work here in the Great North, but the pickins are slim and getting slimmer day by day.

I told you guys that something on YouTube would pop up from me, just be a little more patient ok? It's hard getting it all together, there might be something tonight, it depends if I get it all working. I think you guys will like it

Snow time

...Again. My job searching is like the flake of white falling to earth, not sure if at all if it will land and when it does, was it where it wanted?

Sorry bout that, my writer side showing through here, but it felt right. More progress on the job hunt aside from some applications with some boogers on them...yuck. Anyway, I'm currently on route to my...hmm...how to say this, oh. I am on my way to see my mental health specalisist.

Yeah, he's helping me with stuff, will it pay off? I have no clue. But it's good for now. Other than that, my life remains fairly boring, oh I finally got my PS3 back and picked up a few new games for it, the first being Bioshock and then Shadow of the Coloussus. Good times there, but anyhow, I'm thinking about an iPhone app where it's like Pictochat, where you use either WiFi or Bluetooth to connect and draw and chat, I don't have a clue as to go about doing something like that, but it could be fun

Anyway bye for now.

And it all falls down...

I'm at work now and all I can say is this: I am done here at 7-11. I put in all kinds of extra time and effort and what do I get for it? Nothing. Not a 'oh good job tyson,' or a complitement from the boss and with my hours cut, it makes me wonder what my boss is up to, but then realize that she can't be up to much because she doesn't care. I told her that day shift doesn't do their shift duties, and we are the one gets ignored when we have a request.

So I am leaving Hell, and want to know the best part? I saw a shooting star on the way here, and my horoscope also tells about my decision about work and says to do it for personal reasons, so i'm leaving this job. I will miss my regulars here who come in, but as for my boss, and the job?

Good luck finding a night crew.

Dreamcast II

Hey sega, where is the dreamcast 2? I mean honestly, you guys really can't be happy just selling software right? Don't you guys miss the frenzy of vying to be the top console in the race? Personally, I think the time us ripe that you guys reminded us what gaming is about: playing together. We don't need gimmicks like Sonys wand or another Wii system or dare I say even flail our arms like a crazy person with project natal.

Just a decently powered system with fun games are what we hardcore gamers are starving for. A system just for us, with hard games that would spend a good amount of time on, not like the mountians of mini-games on the Wii and soon to be on the PS3. Just games that we can play along with the rest of our hardcore gaming friends like Power Stone, or Dino Crisis or even Samba de Amigo. Come on Sega, can you really stand by and watch the market become flooded with mini-games, that will net a profit, but leave the rest of us high and dry?

I would say this is a prime time for the return of Sega into the console market, with natal around the corner and Sony copying nintendo, I'd say you guys have the best chance of stealing the thunder from natal and draw Sonys market at the same time. I really hope you guys at Sega are just buying your time until you return to the console scene. Whenever this happens, I will wait until it becomes a reality.

Hey Apple!

You guys are making things weird. Let me explain. You will let people download from the app store and from iTunes. I don't have a problem with this; my problem is that you guys do a funky way of downloading between apps and iTunes. I go to the app store and find an app I would like to try, but it's over 10MB in size and you tell me to download it over wifi. Sure, makes sense. But I find a song in iTunes and get it, and suprise, suprise it's over 10MB, and the download goes through. So why the double-standard Apple?

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Hey there!

Yeah, I know it's been a real long time since I posted to the ye olde blog, but that changes now with this sweet lil app I picked up. It posts directly to my blog with labels! It's the coolest thing to come around in a while, but I'm going to keep this fairly short, just letting you know I haven't forgotten about my little blog, catch you guys later!

New direction...

So. As the title states, my life is moving in a new direction, a new view on life if you will. I am looking for a job, sending resumes, filling out applications, and all that stuff. So far Im clockin' in at 4 hours of sleep today, and Im probably going to get to work with only 4 hours still. I dont mean to brag on my work, but man I think my boss might be on Stupid Pills but I will keep quiet on here, since I think lots of people read this, since it updates both here and on the Book of Face.

Anyway, I think I gotta get ready for work, at least change and get on my way. I feel like I need sleep, but I know I wont get it today. I was at my 'other' job, which is looking for a new job. Hopefully I get the job either at Sony Style or EB Games. That would be AWESOME!

This is me...

And this is my update! Yay! Anyway, I know I've been slacking on the
whole updating thing, but I try you know? Sometimes I don't have all
the time in the world to do the updating but sometimes there is not
much to post about. I mean other than usual work, life, ect and all
that stuff. Well it's quite late for me, so I plan to get some sleep
but have a conondrum: I don't have to work tonight so do I stay up all
day and sleep through the day or sleep during daytime hours?

My interesting dream!

I'm sure you've read on my facebook status now that I had an interesting dream, the first one I've had in a really long time.

Anyway, here goes. For some reason I was living or at least was in Eugene OR and I was driving down towards the city when I saw 4 little bear cubs sitting on the side of the road. I stopped and looked, got out of my car and found out they were very friendly. After being in town for a while I heard that there was a bear hunt going on because the mother had killed a little boy and the city was looking for it. After traveling in and out of the town, I realized that the cubs actually had that mother. When I stopped to see them again, I was chased by the momma bear back into my car. I started to drive away when this big machine pulled beside me and a older guy told me to look for the mother bear and her cubs; I got out of my car and ran across the busy highway and into a park. I looked for them, and found they had climbed up different trees. I signaled that I found them and a group of people gathered around to see the comotion. The guy appeared again and he looked over to a young woman dressed in black with dark eyes and black hair and said, "ok Sheila, you're up.". I turned to her to see a massive furnace, with 5 massive chambers and one already lit. I asked her what she was doing and this was the response I got from her: "well the mother killed a little boy so the entire family must be bad. We are fixing the problem." while saying that, she had walked to the top of the furnace, grabbed a piece of charred wood, snaped it in half and threw it down to the fire below. I pointed to her, telling her what she was doing was sick and wrong, and did the same to everyone who was there and told them that the only reason the boy might have died was because the mother was defending her cubs, I told every one there that we should return them to the wild where they belong. They stayed silent and I vocally refused to take anymore part in that and got back into my car.

And then I woke up. Strange no?

Connection

Yeppers, this is my trying to get on a normal schedule, like sleeping
at night and being awake during the day. So far so good, I contacted a
few different friends to hang out with, but they carry normal jobs so
it might be a little hard to cooridnate it, but it's all good. Anyway,
I thought I would update all of you since I know you read my blog, but
most just check my facebook status no? It's cool, I'm just making a
post to let you know I'm alive. Anyway, laundry calls and my phone
needs more charging so I will bid you adeu.

Anime Expo: Year 2009

This year at Anime Expo was...AWESOME! Meeting up with old friends, meeting new ones, and looking at all the interesting stuff I couldnt really buy. Anyway, meeting up with my friends was awesome, they have changed so much in the past year I almost didnt recgonize them! It was nice to see them, and lots of interesting things to see there at Dealers Hall, like items called Smitts. What are Smitts you ask? Well, they are clever little winter accessories and they work like this:

They are a really long scarf like 6 feet or something and they have pockets sewed on the ends for your hands. So you can wrap it around your head and still use it like gloves. It was really neato. Aside from that, there was lots more of the usual Anime, Manga and various other anime related things like Cat Hats, which I picked up from my good friend again. Some of the things I wanted to go to were bust, so I didnt really pay any attention to them, and I never managed to get my cosplay done, so I didnt really participate in that too much.

Anyway, I couldnt really update my blog or my Facebook from AX directly because that would have cost me an arm and a leg. Even calling down here in the States is expensive. It costs 2 dollars a minute plus roaming. I dont even know about turning on the Internet and frankly I dont want to turn it on, as I would forget about it and it would run my bill horrendously high.

Well, since I am on my moms Internet I dont really want to keep this too exuberantly long so I will cut this short. I will make another post after I get home. See you all later and I cant wait for next year!

AX is HERE!!!

Yep it's that wonderful time again, the best way to reach me will be
via Email or Facebook, since I will be turning off my cell service but
keeping WiFi on. Catch you laters!

Project Natal...

So, I just saw a video for this amazing piece of technology and I have to say...its quite impressive. I mean...having facial recognation and detailed 3D mapping of variouis objects in real-time? A few years ago this would have been science fiction but its comming. I personally cant wait for this to come around to the consumer sect and see what programmers are able to dream up, I mean... The possiabilities are endless, in any game you could be the hero, not just some protaganst that you control, but you. Watching various demos for this blows me away. Video of a program that they crafted with Project Natal as their fore-front.

Serious Note....

This would be basically a note of what Im looking for in a woman.

Enjoy. It fits my description pretty well so Ill just leave it at that.

RAHHH POSTAGE!!!

sorry, I just had to get that out of my system. I update my Facebook far more often than my own blog, how sad is that? Also I realized something, I can have the best of both worlds, see my blog automatically updates on my Notes section of the book of face so it works out pretty well.

Well, Anime Expo is a little more than a month away, and what do I have done? Plane ticket? Done, Hotel room? DONE. Passsport? Uh...not done, at all. Thats one of the last hurdels for me standing between me and my vacation. I am going at it full force though, but I still need all kinds of stuff from different people an blah, blah, BLAH.

Anyway, for those not in the know, I am headed for a blind date on Thursday tomorrow. This makes me really excited and scared at teh same time, but hopefully it will work out tomorrow. Which means I wont be attending soccer tomorrow! Sorry Missionaries! But this is my Friday night, and I need to leave for work in roughly a half hour so its all good.

Also a bit of sad news, since there is roughly a month left for prepping for AX, I fear I might not be able to get done my Link cosplay I had previously planned. if I had complete, and full days to work on this, I could probably get it done, even on my tight schedule and budget. Maybe I wont cosplay this year, and just have fun, for the past two years I had been dressing up and gathering people together and running the show, but this year, I figure I might take it easy at AX, since its going to be the only vacation time I get. I need to run to the forums over at cosplay.com and tell them the bad news...

Well...I just thought I would update you guys on current events spiraling around in my life. OH a Mental Note just popped into my head:

Never leave money in your pocket. Put it directly into your wallet/purse/container for holding said monies. Trust me, you wont regret it. Like I did Monday after pulling a 20 and then loosing it.

I happened to stumble across this...

I found something very interesting just now from Google. Take a moment to read over this webpage.

This suddenly reminds me of a very scary computer program that has been pretty much the central role in four movies so far. Do you know what Im thinking of? Skynet.

Google has crafted their own version of Skynet. Is anyone worried about this? I mean, just reading it over, it creeps me out to no end; although I will admit, life could be a whole lot better when Google manages to get into every electronic device created. Think you could be downtown somewhere wanting really good curry. You would get out your phone, and say: Downtown Calgary, good Curry.

And viola! It would find it for you. 'Course it already can do that on my iPhone but still, its kind of creepy that Google would go in this direction. Its even made its own webpage.

As you may have noticed...

I update my facebook account far more often than my own blog so the main question for myself is this: do I continue my blog and make the occasional post and go about normal, or do I drop my blog entirely? It's quite the drama within myself at the moment. I will expand on this tomorrow as I am currently on route to the church.

Movie Review: Star Trek

So its been quite a long time since Ive done one of these but its completely worth it. Star Trek is, I think, one of the best movies to kick-start the summer movie blockbusters.

I love how they explain the backstories of both Spock and Kirk, its really cool, I would never have thought that they both had such a deep and troubeled backrounds. It was really impressive. The dialog was as good as the actors, whom were AMAZING; it felt to me, that they were really trying to convey the characters before they had their trademark sayings and actions. This movie just blew me away, it was really good.

I can honestly say that this has re-booted the Star Trek series and we are going to see a number of different series and perhaps more movies staring these awesome actors. I really reccomend it to everyone, even if your only slightly interested in Sci-Fi, you will love this movie.

So....Swine Flu

Its here in the Great North, there have been 6 cases reported here in Alberta and frankly; Im not worried. I mean sure, there is the real possiability of this turning ugly but for the most part, I think people are kind of over-reacting about the whole thing.

Yes it comes from pigs, yes the symptoms are basically the flu. Everyone on the entire planet has had the flu at some point or another so why make a big deal out of this one? I just dont see the need to be over-active about this thing, the world is up in arms over it, but I think it wont be that bad.

I know there have been well over 100 deaths in Mexico, but I personally think that generally, the worst is over. I dont expect this thing to turn huge like everyone is panicking about, if you really want to find out how bad this could be, go play a game called Pandemic II. In fact, it wouldnt be that hard to re-create the sceniaro in the game...Hm...a game could offer incrediable insight into all of this...

Thursday, April 23, 2009

hello all.

Im back, and in three days no less! I might be really hurting tomorrow...See it went like this; I went to Soccer with the missionaries and I ran around that gym for a solid hour and a half, and got hit in the face twice by the ball.

Do I feel good right now? Yes, as I was able to keep up with the 'pro' guys who were decked out in soccer shoes, shorts, shirts and ect, ect. Now if only I could stop my neck hurting, that would be great. Its like a constant twinge on the right side of my neck, always there no matter how I twist my neck.

No Effort!

it was pretty awesome last night at work...things seemed to go just my way. No highway involved, it just seemed to flow from one thing into another and soon enough I found myself talking to a pretty girl, whom said that she had been working doubles for her two jobs and stuff.

Well, I wasnt planning on being smooth, but I suppose some of my antics got me somewhere, because she came back roughly 3 minutes later and was kind of fidgity, saying 'normally I dont do this...but here is my number. give me a call and maybe we can hang out for coffee?'

This blew me away! I was just being my fun loving self, and she gives me her number! No effort at all, maybe...just maybe, Im that good.

Now that I wrote it, probably not, and after the first meeting she will probably forget all about me, which is pretty common for me...But, I gotta keep hope right? Who knows, it might lead somewhere...if I can get her to quit smoking....

Movie Reivew: Dragonball: Evolution

Yep, I went and saw the movie. Ill be totally honest with you all, I never expected this movie to come to the big screen. See the story goes like this; some time way back in 2003 there were rumors flying around of doing a live-action DBZ movie, from Fox. Only problem is that it come around and was non existant. Rumors of the movie had flown around on the Internet for AGES so I was basically on the stance of: when I see it in the movies, then its real.

Which it became real. For those not in the know, Dragonball follows the account of a child named Goku who is trainted in martial arts by his grandfather Gohan. Along the way he meets up with a very diverse cast in search of the seven mystic Dragon balls which will grant one wish.

The movie is actually for the time of Dragonball, I think what most people were expecting was something from the next series, Dragonball Z. I dont have a problem watching the older series because it shows where it all started, developes the characters a little bit.

Anyway onto the movie, I thought it was a pretty good kung-fu movie. If you really want to watch it as a Dragonball movie you must remember a few points before going in. Its not going to be directly ripped from the show, or Manga. Some of the fight sequences were really well done, especially the fight between Goku and the thugs, it was very well done and looked and felt like something directly from the Anime. For those who stayed after the credits, you know there is room for a sequel, and once they've done it once, they can do it better again right?

The ending fight between Piccolo and Goku was kind of a let down, there was all this build to the fight, but it was pretty much over before it started. So. If you like Dragonball go and watch the movie, but keep the pointer in mind and it will be pretty good with an open mind towards the series. OH, before I forget: Akira Toriyama produced it. The original pen that wrote Dragonball and DBZ produced the movie along side the regular production staff. That little tidbit blew me away.

Silly me...

So I did a silly thing tonight. See I wanted to put the Charlie the Unicorn movies onto my iPhone; and FYI for all those people out there, they have made a 3rd movie. Check it out on Newgrounds, it will be right on the front page.

Anyway, I hooked up my iPhone to my computer, and suprise, suprise it wiped all of my old songs that I had burnt from forever ago. Now I gotta import 35 CDs back onto my new computer... it stinks.

Four days...

between posts...opps. Heh, I am looking to get this down to maybe a bi-daily thing, not a 4 day thing. Oh well, by making the post its the first step!

Anyway, I am proud to announce that the Iphone of Time is pretty much complete! Now with photos to prove such a thing. I could go through the long and hard process of actually making it LOOK like an the one from the actual game, getting shiny materal to use on the prop and all that stuff...but I consider this to be my 'rough draft'. I will be imporving this as time goes on, and when it comes time for AX which is in 84 DAYS! It makes me really excited.

However it makes me really neverous at the same time...so many things to get in order...my passport, plane tickets, hotel stuffs...its enough to make my head spin, which it usually does. Anyway, just an update for those wanting to know about my Iphone of Time

My old man...

He pulled a fast one on me! I thought he wasnt comming until much later in the year, but I was at my Aunts house and guess who walks through the door: my dad and his girlfriend! Least to say, I was blown away, I had no IDEA he was comming. It was a total shock to the system to see him standing there.

We have done nothing but FEASTED in the past two days, and although they leave tomorrow, I plan on taking that night off of work no matter what my boss says. Its my family. If he wants to fire me over visiting with my dad whom i have not seen in the past 5 months, then fine. He can look for someone else.

Friday, April 3, 2009

Suddenly!

Conflict! Yeppers, lots of my extended family are comming in tonight and we are going to get ready for a giant feast and the problem tonight? Im working! See, I told my boss that I would need Saturday off but didnt realize that we were doing the huge dinner thing tonight...

It would be like a dine and dash...hardly talking with any of them...it makes me quite sad. I would very much rather just call into work and have my co-worker cover it but I havent heard back from him on that...so I gotta go. Ugh...this working thing sucks. I want a high-paying job with little or no stress...does one exist?

Thursday, April 2, 2009

RAGH!

Thats how I currently feel about work. My boss is being stingy and doesnt want to pay over time to his employees; forcing us to only just have two days off. However, here is the big problem: see some of my family are comming tomorrow and I want to visit with them for the weekend.

Will my boss let me off to take part in said visit? Signs point to no as he made it clear to me and my co-worker this morning "Im not paying you guys overtime." But you know what I say to that? My family is WAY, WAY more important than my job. Sure it nets me money, and drains some of my time, but since Im here in Canada I hardly ever get to see my family. So...the solution to the equation is: contact my co-worker and tell him to take the shifts. He wants to take them, telling me over and over again how he needs the money.

It works for me, and works out for him too, but now I just need to get in contact with him and confirm it all. And if I loose my job over visiting my family, then its not a good place to work.

Anyway if you havent noticed, this post is really really early in the day. I got off from work roughly 2 hours ago which explains why. Thing is...Im not sleepy. Im trying to get myself into that trance mode and then get some sleep. Hopefully staring at webpages will do the trick...

Thursday, March 26, 2009

This movie...

IS AWESOME! My brother-in-law who is totally awesome made this video for this film editing class and it turned out great! Linkage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk8AQj4r48U

Go and watch this video, as its pretty much how Oregon is like...sunshining one moment, then rain to ruin the day... Its awesome.

opps.

I used to be really good on this whole blogging thing. At first it was around every two days but now its spanning out like a week between posts...Which I think is a bad thing because stuff will happen and then I will forget to post it here.

Problem is that not much happened during the week, until Saturday that is...because its MY BIRTHDAY ^_^ It makes me really happy, and for those wondering, I will be 24. That doesnt sound old when I type it out, but if I say it aloud its like...me being ancient or something, especially with my grey hair...its really quite sad.

But I wont let it get me down! Besides, I still have to paint one of my iPhone cases to make it look like an Ocarina for my Link cosplay! Yep, I have the paint and stuff already to go, but I think painting it will pose the biggest challenge, because it is in two pieces and has three holes in the case for speakers, mic, butons and the computer connection. I need to put some batteries in the camera I brought with me and take some pictures along the way to show you all how its going.

Im really excited to start working on this one...it will complete the cosplay and I offically dub it: iPhone of Time.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I am ALIVE.

Yes, though its been quite a while, I am still here. Not much is new with me, just working, and sleeping during the daytime hours, though I feel like sometimes I am not getting enough sleep for what I do. For the past week or so at arouind 8PM I feel really, really sleepy and my body tells me to go to bed, but I know I need to go to work that night, so its a real problem.

How to fix it; I have no idea. I wish I knew. Maybe working graveyard shifts are finally getting to me, after roughly 2 and a half months. Who knows.

Another reason why Ive been away for so long was taht my Uncle came out of the blue and decided to stay here for a while. I'm indifferent to the idea, since its been very long since I have seen him last but something signifiantly changed with him: he is a WoW addict. For those not in the know that World of Warcraft. I never thought he would play video games but I guess it keeps him in contact with this kids and he enjoys it so its good right?

Anyway, when he came down, he brought his own router. I didnt have a problem with this, as he could have just connected to the existing network here and played, but nope. He removed our router and replaced it with his, requireing to change all the network settings for the different computers in the house.

I am keeping a closer watch on my iPhone useage now, especially since that the unlimited local calling, unlimited texts and unlimited data are comming to an end on the 26th of March. Ive been really good tough; they give a Gigabyte of data to use and to date... I have sent 8.2MB and recieved 156MB worth of data. Thats all my useage since December 26th when I bought the thing. I think I can stick to my plan so its not really something to worry about.

Tonight is my Friday night, as I get the next two days off of work, and Im loving it! I cant wait to get back to a 'normal' sleep cycle again; will it work? I have no idea, but its nice to dream right? Speaking of dreaming...I need to sign my lotto ticket I bought... Im bad I know.

Thursday, March 5, 2009

So...

There are a bunch of things that are on my list today...Will I get to all of them? Hopefully. They are time-consuming things like getting over to the University and seeing a counsolur and all getting my credits transfered and all that jazz. Laundry is another thing on my list of things to do; along with cleaning my room, and Im not too sure if there is anything else to do on that list...

But for Cosplay, I the list is easily two or even 10 times bigger than that. I figure that the Twilight Princess version of Link may be a little out of my reach. Its too detailed for me to jump right in as my first one, so I think Im going to settle for the Ocarina of Time version. Sure its much more simple, not a whole lot of detail, but its a good starter. Especially for making props, which I have some experience, but not a whole lot, and plus I like carrying around props; it brings it all together.

Other than that stuff, there is not much going on up here...other than the fact that its snowing, well more like blizzarding out there. I keep on thinking Articuno is living up here in Canada, close to Calgary. Now if only I had some Pokeballs...

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Back to Work...

Yep, my weekend is over. This is my Monday for everyone out there, this is your Saturday Night and you are probably hooping it up somewhere and having a(hopefully) good time.

Why come here and be like this rather than my chipper usual self? well...to be perfectly honest...I got a new computer that I really want to set up and re-do for my own. The specs are pretty much exactly the same as my current one and was catch this: 269 dollars!

That was a deal I couldnt pass up and the best news? Its a full size computer case! Meaning I can upgrade it as I see fit, making all kinds of changes to it. It makes me happy, though I think I should have gotten a Netbook, since I could take it anywhere...

I finally got in contact with my good friend again...and we are currently in discussion of doing a Cosplay together, me being Link from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and her as Sheik from the same game. I gotta make a sacrifice for it though...to get the look just right...I require to shave my goatee.

Am I saddened by this? Yes. However, it wont happen for a solid 6 months or so that's the trade off right now...but I really want this to look good. Ive been running around on the Interweb looking at all kinds of photos and line art and other people's costumes. I can do it. I will do it. Stay tuned for everything that comes with this.

Getting it all together....

SO, I started to look around at the University of Calgary website today, trying to find a contact page so I can get in touch with some of the counselors but alas, nothing! My connection crapped out on me and I wasnt able to get anything.

And to send stuff from Lane(my previous school) I have to know the address of the person at the UofC to send it to! So I checked on the bus schedule thanks to Google Maps but found out that it takes around an hour to get down there. And its 4 o'clock. I would get there and they would be closed...Sometimes I really wonder if its not better to just start from scratch and fresh on my college stuff...

What am I thinking? I poured 3+ years into college and to just throw it away...Ill admit, I didn't exactly do my best there in college but still, its silly to go through all of these hoops to get a degree, first there is the cost, and then attending classes and putting up with your annoying peers, rude teachers and all the bulls

Sorry. I let my fingers connect to my brain for a little too long. But you get the point. Maybe getting my A+ Certification would be the best route, now if I can get a hold of a recent publication on that topic, then it would be great, then leave 7-11 and get a job with normal hours like 9-5. Now I gotta find a book store, hopefully it will be close by and will have the literature I need.

Ringtones

So I found out that I can make a ringtone on my iPhone, taking a 15 second clip of one of my songs and plugging it back into my phone under the ring tone section.

I wouldnt have a problem if it was quick and easy to do with spectacular results. This is the main reason why: Apple wants you to pay an extra dollar for that 15 second clip of the song. If I bought the song, shouldnt I be able to make ringtones free of charge? Since I did already pay the dollar to have the song in the first place?

This is one of the things that I shake my head and place my hand on my face in a face-palm. Seriously, I think Apple is ripping people off by saying, "oh yeah, you can download any song for a dollar. OH and by the way, if you want to make a short ring tone, pay us another dollar." If I was going to put custom ringtones, I would do something....rather...'unethical' in some minds and jailbreak my iPhone and make my own ring tones.

Apple is not getting my dollar for a 15 second clip of a song.

Delayed notes...

But always follow up! Thats my policy. Anyway, about the dance: I had a great time, even though the live band didnt really play much slow music at all. If I remember correctly they played one slow song the entire night. I saw most of them dancing and saw some friends of mine from the New Years dance and then they kinda disappeared but I went and found them. They had brought their iPod and a speaker and were jamming out in the basement of the church.

Of course I joined in, since I was about done listening to the live band play something from the 60s again. I met two new friends down there and one is TOTALLY into video games and Alt music and they all get together and jam out with Rock Band or Guitar Hero! I was in bliss down there with my friends, and one of the girls even got my number.

At around midnight we decided we were all hungry and we piled into a car and started driving down the street looking for a Denny's. What we found was Boston Pizza instead,(Mental Note: They make AMAZING pizza, if you ever come to Canada, have Boston Pizza!) and had delicious food. We stayed there until they closed, which was around 2:30AM and we decided to go our separate ways and head home. So I made friends who are into the same things I am!

I am thinking about looking for a different job or maybe switch my hours. I work at night and sleep during the day. Its not so great to meet up with friends who has the exact opposite schedule. Only problem is that unless I can get my A+ computer certification, I dont think any computer selling store will hire me. Plus I need to get on the ball and find out about my college credits and if they transfer up here or not. Still lots to do yet, but I think after I pass my A+ things should go really well for me.

Now I just need to get the book and study it until my brain turns to mush and oozes out my ears.

Going out?

Yep, I gotta get ready for the 'Sweetheart Dance' that is happening around 9:30 tonight so...they said for me to get a date...but I really dont know anyone outside of work so I think I am OK to go stag. Right?

Ive done it in the past without any major issues but the thing that weighs on my mind is the face that its a sweetheart dance and the majority of people who will be there will be paired with their significant others/newlyweds or that kind of thing. Leaving me usually in the corner, sipping on some punch. Dont get me wrong, I really like to bust a groove on the dance floor but trying to find a pretty lady to dance with...thats a whole 'nother story.

Also since its my Saturday night(gotta be at work tomorrow) I might as well make it the best one I can right? I mean, Im going there to have fun and dance the night away, sure I may feel out of place but still; Im out there having fun.

Though sometimes I feel I need a vacation. Like a really long cruise or perhaps going to my mom's place and seeing what California is like. I dont know, but I really think I need one soon. It kind of helps that the schedule is going to be the same for the rest of the duration that I work there so it can help me plan for things. Only problem is the schedule is planned out for two months at a time. I would have to wait roughly three months before I saw a vacation come my way.

But its not the time for that: Ive got to get ready! Its already past 8PM and I like to get myself spiffy clean for the ladies.

Just when...

I stop looking for work, I get all kinds of phone calls offering me a
job. The movie theaters called me, co-op called, and another one that
escapes me at the moment. I'm just writing to update you all on my
status, my body has finally adjusted to the day/night swap and I am
doing much better sleeping in the day.

I'm currently on break at work so I got to make this fairly short,
well goodnight to most of you happy people, and good afternoon to
those doing grave-yard.

Tagged?

So. My sister tagged me and now Ive got to post the 6th picture in my 6th folder. Well...I did'nt have six pictures in there so I pulled this one out of the bag. This was when we were driving back from Flo-Town I was in the car with my sister and her husband and they happened to have a camera. I cant remember why we were there in Florence, I think we were eating over at my dad's place but anyway. They started getting a little camera happy and took pictures of each other and then turned their sights on me. This was the result.

It was fun, we had a good time driving back to Eugene. On a completely different note, I picked up the Ocarina app for my iPhone and I can already play the Song of Time from Legend of Zelda! For those not aware, I will show a Youtube video of the song...hold on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUmleutyn3M and I sound like that when I play sometimes, but I LOVE it.

...I need some windex...

So its been around a solid month since Ive had my iPhone and I have searched high and low in this house and the one thing I need but cant find? Windex. Also I ran out of milk today so Ive got to make a trip when I wake up and get some and do a little house cleaning also for my grandmother. Especially my room. Jackets on the floor, small electronics, etc, etc.

I met up with my other grandmother and we had a nice long chat about me and her and the rest of my family on my mothers side. It was good to catch up, since the majority of the time she is on vacation; I dont really know how she manages with her pension but I guess that shows how manageable she is with money huh?

Not much from my corner of the world, just blowing cold. Not snow thankfully.

My computer is in working order!

Yep, I finally broke down and bought a monitor, and keyboard for it. I know, I know, spending money is bad and blah, blah, blah. I was just getting a little tired of using my grandmothers computer all the time.

Besides, I got a really good deal on the monitor anyway: I was going to get a 19' wide-screen for 199$ but they just put the sale into the computers so instead I got a 20' wide-screen for 169$. Talk about a good bargain huh? An inch more and 30 dollars less, how sweet is that?

Sad thing is, since my computer has been out of commission for so long, its taking a really long time for it to 'wake up' from its long slumber. Also Im getting used to this new keyboard. The keys feel a little rough, but I think within a few months or so that will be all gone. Hopefully.

Good mornin'!

Yes you read that title correct, and yes I realize its almost 2 oclock in the afternoon. See I went to work last night and I slept this morning to wake up. Free Slurpee's keep me mostly awake at night. Though I wish they sold some Monster M-80s. Those things are really, really good; if I had the choice between the two...I would make a Slurpee of Monster!

OOOH I like that thought. Maybe I should research how to make a Slurpee. An energy Slurpee. Brilliant.

Anyway, my grandparents left for Arizona early this morning, they were gone when I got home and they will be gone for the next 10 days. I have the house to myself for that long, though it will probably not be quiet, people calling wondering where Grandma has gone and etc, etc.

Ive got to run down to the Registry service and get my Drivers license changed to the current address or I could be tossed in Jail. Reason why I say that is because I am driving myself to a dance tonight; the theme is...Tropical Vacation. Does this make sense to anyone else? A tropical theme dance in the dead middle of winter? Regardless, I am totally planning on attending unless something comes up or happens where it needs my direct attention.

I really need to send an inquiry to Blogger here and see if its possible to put labels on posts you make from your mobile device. It drives me crazy when I see all these posts Ive made and they dont have labels; you'd think since Google came along they would be all over a thing like labels but no: they are missing.

On a slightly related note, Im really impressed with how far my Mental Notes have come. 129 Posts and still going strong and the year is just starting, and I get the feeling this year is going to be big. Lots of things in store for me.

7-11 updating

So I found out I still have unlimited data and texts on my iPhone. So
I plan on making this a big post to the ol' blog. See? It's my
dinner, and for those wondering: it's my first Slurppe of the night.

So how 'bout an update?

Well, Costco finally called me back and said: I hired somebody with
Deli experience and with a car. That is pretty much my life summed up
nicely into a little package.

But the good news is that I have a full-time job working at 7-11, and
can get free slurppes while I work. It's my dream come true; I love
slurppes and I am working the night-shift here in two days so it's made
me really excited. Safeway is no more; I put my notice there
yesterday there but I still need to call and see if they put me on the
schedule this week.

So life is going pretty well for me, got a full time job, am looking
around to get a little car and maybe get some money together and get
some of my stuff shipped to me. That last one is a ways off yet but
still, it would be nice to have that stuff.

I'm thinkin' the rest of the day will be a lazy one... Except for
doing my laundry...oh well.

Pretty Awesome things...

happened so far today! I went for an interview at 7-11 and he wants me to come in on Sunday to fill out all kinds of paperwork and get started on the night shift that Monday! Happy day! I will be getting paid more in 6 months than I would ever dream of at Costco. They want to start me off at 10 then an extra dollar right off the bat for doing night shift, then the certification for the computers and cash register and things thats another 1.75; are you with me so far? thats 12.75 within the first three months. After the probation period I can sign a contract for 6 months(basically saying I will work there doing night shifts) and get an extra 2 dollars for that!

14.75 is the grand total after three months and signing the contract. How awesome is that?

Anyway after walking home from the interview, I unlocked the deadbolt for my grandmothers place and then tried the door handle: it was locked. I dont have a key for the door handle. Basically I was locked out for a little while and called my grandmother who locked the door handle this morning because she had a key. So...I did what I had to do and removed a screen window from downstairs and uh...broke into my own place of residence. It would have gone much more smoothly if I didnt have to take off my snow boots while sitting on the ledge wishing I could touch the ground. So yeah, lots of interesting things happen to me, but I guess thats life.

Feelin' ....groggy.

Yep I have a full blown cold/flu type thing. Running nose, achy body, headaches Ive got it all. I am taking all kinds of stuff to weather the storm though, like Vitamin C and this stuff called Cold-FX. I am waiting to see how the FX stuff will impact my cold and hopefully get rid of it.

Even with my cold, I watched the Inauguration of Barak Obama today. I felt really good listening to his speech and knowing my vote counted. And I may have cheered when Bush got onto the helicopter. I like to think of it as Texas is getting their village idiot they lost 8 years ago.

Another thing, this might shock my family members but: I like lettuce. Romain to be more precise, I really like eating it. As long as it does not have any kind of sauce then I will chow down on it all the time. I know its like the Twilight Zone for my family but its true.

Aside from that stuff, there is not really much going on here, just looking for a car waiting for Costco to call back and say, "You start tomorrow at 8AM." I just need to get over this cold first...then I will gladly be more out going, but its been pretty nice here in Calgary lately so I cant really complain. Oh, speaking of Calgary, I will make a post about a famous drive-in burger shop in the near future. Unless I already did...Oh well. It begs to be repeated if thats the case.

*ACHOO*

Yep I feel a cold coming on. For me, it starts with a bad migraine and then moves to the sinuses and then the rest of the body. I HATE when I get a cold, because when I get them there is something really important I have to do: like call Costco back tomorrow and have an interview at 7-11. I like to think I dont have a whole lot of stress in my life, but with my hair going gray and me loosing sleep over some stuff I guess it takes its toll and translates into the dreaded Stress Factor.

I mean, I would love to go and work for Costco, only problem is that there are no buses that run that way and the closest stop is still 1.5 Kilometers away. My grandparents are totally gun-ho about the thing which I understand completely but I dont want to put them out. They talk about putting me on one of their insurances and trying to find me a car so I can drive to work but there is a problem other than me getting to work in the morning hours of 5,6,7. There are closing shifts also ranging from the 2,3,4 hours in the afternoon; no one can take time off of work and play 'Taxi' to me and my job. But knowing my luck, she will probably have the position filled by someone like me who has a car to get back and forth.

This is what happens to me most of the time: A great thing comes along my way, but right then I dont have the resources to use that and it quickly goes to someone else. I like to think that all those missed chances will come back to me, not right away of course but sometime perhaps when Im older. Karma usually shows me something really awesome I could have but then kicks me in the pants and leaves. Im pretty much used to it by now.

But I was told to call her tomorrow between 5AM and 1PM in the afternoon, so I guess I will go to the 7-11 interview tomorrow and see how it goes; and call her afterwords.

Oh, I havent done this in a really long time, but Mental Note: The country of Canada runs on change. ALWAYS carry some. Expect more Notes from now on; I missed doing those.

News from the Job Front

The story goes like this see: I was driving around with my grandmother and a lead phoned in, I wasn't there to take the call and their voice echoed on the machine. When I got home my grandma listened to the message, telling me they wanted me to call 'em back. I listened to the message; it was almost too good to be true, but we decided it would be better to go nett this Deli boss in the Costco up on the hill.

We scrambled to the car, by the time we got there the butterfly's were already flyin' in my stomach. I always look both sides of the street
whenever I head into Costco. Call it habit, I wandered inside and
poked around lookin' for the Deli boss. Turns out she was pretty easy
to find, I reminded her of the phone call she had left and welcomed me
warmly into their offices.

It wasn't over for me yet, they had me do an interview there on the
spot. Was I nervous? 'course I was did I show it? Not even in the
slightist; they ran me through the usual gauntlet. After the Deli
boss took me to the back of the store, showing me where they worked.

The coolers, prep room were both a little chilly, like my previous job
searching was going, though I didn't dare complain. 37. The Deli
boss makes 37 different kinds of dishes for sale with a staff of
eleven people. It blew me away, I knew I could do good here but there
was one little hitch in the deal: I have no mode of transportation to
the store. Was that a heart breaker like a hot girl smashin' your
heart with a ton of ice?

Of course it was... But did I buckle under the ice? Of course not, I
kept my cool like the job seeker I am. Though it might be a long time
before I'm able to find another like that one...

NOTE: this post is best being read with a 1950's detective accent to
it. At least it makes sense to me when I read it...

Long Night...

I was working today, not looking for a job, but the other one remember? Safeway? Yep that one. Anyway, I was working in the grocery section of the store today and I was putting some canned goods away onto the shelf and I noticed that some of the cans had pretty bad dents and bends in them. I told him, "hey we cant sell these because they are dented pretty badly." He looks me over and says, "just put them on the shelf." My mental jaw dropped, does he not know that you can get Botulism from that kind of stuff?

Anyway, I was kind of like freaked out for the rest of the day, I wanted to go through the entire canned section and look for dented cans. I am totally paranoid that way but I guess it pays to be with that kind of stuff right? I dont know if its just me, but you kind of got to pay attention to those things.

Besides me being paranoid about dented cans, work went pretty uneventful. I gotta hit the streets tomorrow, well technically today and look for some work. I could get more hours at Safeway, but its kind of frightening when management doesnt care about the products they well, especially if its food. He also has this kind of weird twitch when he talks its really kind of creepy.

Sorry, moving to a different topic. What different topic I have no idea. OH the fact I need to go pick up some A+ Certification books tomorrow at a discounted price, at a book store is high priority on my list today since it will take me from working Produce to working on Computers at someplace like Best Buy or Future Shop or any little family PC business anywhere. I really need to get on that badly. Oh, another thing I have found in the iPhone App Store is the Facebook application which is pretty cool, it helps me keep track of everything thats happened in the past day and I can even upload photos that I take from my phone directly to the Albums! Technology is amazing and its changing all the time.

I think that will be all for me tonight, and my Brotha Tim, I will send your controller to you tomorrow! I promise to get it to you in the mail while I am out today. Oh and I dont know if I will sell my PS3 to ya. That model I have kind moved in to the 'collectors' realm now with people scrambling to get their hands on one. A quick browse through ebay will show it.

Hittin' the street II

I'm using lots of data to send this so I will be brief. Nothing is biting it's kind of like fishing; only if you don't catch anything you loose big time. I will edit this when I get home.

UPDATE:

Yep, I got home at around 6 and like my previous two sentences say, its alot like fishing. I was just helping Ken put some pictures from his camera onto his PC so he can edit them and burn them to a DVD and send to somebody for safekeeping.

As I said earlier, its kind of hard looking for a job here in Calgary. Stores are really cutting back on hours and trying to let people go so they can save themselves a bit of money in the recession. Makes it hard on people looking for work, but whatever, that means Ive got to work that much harder for people to hire me right?

Happy Day!

I have a Follower for my blog! That makes me really excited and happy. It makes me all giddy inside for some unknown reason. I should really start making more posts from my iPhone so people can be updated better on what happens to me through here and via Facebook. Oh, the general rule of thumb is not to talk about your work...but I think my event warrants a breaking of this rule.

So, on Saturday, I was working on apples, minding my own business and making it look nice when my boss the one who hired me back in November comes around to me, looks me over and says: "Oh. You're still working in Produce?" and rolls his eyes and walks away. I really just wanted to tell him off right there and throw my apron at his face but I remained calm and said, "uh, yeah." Am I missing something here? I haven't seen the guy for two months and he comes out of the blue and insults me like that? My own boss?

Anyway, I wont go any further into that danger zone because I want to distance myself from that place as far as I can go right now. Which is why I am looking for more work, weather it be full time or part time. Not because of the rude behavior of my boss, but the fact that over the next two weeks, I am only scheduled for three days. Meaning more than a week of not working; which just can't do since I have bills to pay and such. I plan on waking up at around 8AM and hitting the pavement until Suppertime which will be around 6PM. Gotta print out a bunch of resumes and get them into as many places as I can.

Well, I am kind of tired and I think I will go to bed for the night, and maybe make a post on the road tomorrow from wherever I am, be it a shopping mall or Downtown. Goodnight all.

Iphone updating done!

Yep, now all my music is on my iPhone! 1175 songs exist on my phone, only taking up about half of the space left there. Now what to do with the 3.5GB worth of space? Movies? AMVs? I dont really know, but I have all my stuff on there now, except the movie I FINALLY got onto the phone, but had to erase it to put everything else on it. That bites really bad, but since I have my computer it will be a breeze now.

Hooray! Since signing up with Facebook yesterday I have been reunited with 22 friends of mine! Most I havent been able to find any way else, I looked through Myspace but blrgh. Myspace is for the kiddies. The rest of us will use Facebook. Im really excited that I got my computer, since I put everything on the phone.

Now I plan on going to get a Slurpee from the shop down the street so I am going to get bundeled up and check on the weather and see. Its the first one this week for anyone keeping track at home. Like my family. Its just they are SO good here in Canada...I cant really explain it at all just that they taste better then down in the States. When I come home I have to get back on the job front again and see if anyone is willing to hire a 23 year old non-degree college guy. Sigh.

Updating the Friends List...

Yep since I finally came around to joining Facebook, I am finding all of my high school alumni and re-connecting with them all. Its amazing to see all the changes they have gone through, as most have moved away from the town of St. George and onto broader horizons.

New stuff just happened. I received a package in the mail. It was a big one, can you guess what was inside? Well...it was my compy, Wii, and all the connections to hook it up! I thought it was not going to be here until the end of the week, so good news to me. But now I have to find a monitor that will also hook up my Wii. Oh and I have a single PS3 controller; but no PS3 to play it on. Also a remote for my old TV, two types of computer mouse and a iPod alarm clock without its wall power supply. Im just grateful to have all of this stuff back. Ive been missing it for the past month since Ive been here.

Well, I really should get a table for my computer and monitor now....

Hittin the pavement...

Lookin for work today. I have a job already but its part-time and can only cover my expenses right now. Having a little bit more money and moving out of my grandmothers house would be ideal so right now thats what I'm doing, looking for work. With this recession coming around, people are tightening their work budget, and are getting really picky about who they hire. Everyone wants somebody with experience in that field, but the problem is that I dont have experience there. I wont let it stop me though, I am determined to get this underway and with two jobs here pretty quick. Traveling on the bus is not that bad...when its ON TIME! GRRrrr....

I will explain what happened on Saturday, I took the first bus which was waiting for me there at the bus-stop but the second one I had to wait for like 40-50 minutes for! It was silly, making people wait. I was not late as I left an hour early for work but still, it must be very frustrating for people in a hurry...I guess thats why they drive cars. Anyway, another thing happened yesterday, which I will note was pretty awesome for myself: a hot girl sat next to me on the bus. Thing is the bus was not very full in the first place so it was kind of a little special bonus. Savor the small victories right?

Anyway, I should get back to filling out applications online and sifting through Craigslist and Kijiji and see what I can find in the ocean of job openings. I have a few in mind from co-workers recommending stuff to me, but who knows right? I gotta see where the bus routes go so I can get to Costco and turn in my applications and all that stuff.

OH! I am getting my computer shipped to me here in the Great North so I wont be on my grandmothers all the time, though she doesnt really mind it much, but it allows me to import all of my music from my computer to my iPhone and have loads of music to play. Another thing, I finally figured out how to import video onto my iPhone since 2.2 came out!

This is the easy way I found, you convert the video to an .MP4 so it can be read by iTunes and import it in there. When it comes around as a Movie, you have to right click the movie and edit it from a Movie to a TV Show and fill in some info to fool iTunes into making it a TV Show and it will automatically import into the iPhone! It took me forever to find out how and rummaging through websites it came to me: ""well if it only imports TV shows...how about I make my movie a show?" and it WORKED! It made me really happy.

Happy New Year!

As the title says have a good new year everyone! I plan on getting
started on some resolutions for the brand new year like getting a new
job and getting all of my stuff from the states. Other than that I
don't really have 09' planned.

I attended a dance tonight and had a really good time dancing around.
I made a few friends and look forward to meeting them again and I know
it sounds crazy comming from me but I found a perfect 10 there at the
dance. I know her pretty well and even shared a dance with her; did I
get her number? Well no, it's kind of hard when her brother is
standing next to her for most of the night. It's kind of a long shot
to see her at another function but there is always a glimmer of hope.
I could go on and on about her but this blog is about me so I will
stick with I know.

I found out that it's quite expensive to rent a uhaul truck and drive
it over the border. But I am worried about all of my toys that are
getting moldy in the damp weather of Eugene.

Well, I plan on going to bed here pretty quick so I will sign off for
the night.
